Ava DuVernay's birth was on the 24th of August on the 24th of August, 1972 in Long Beach California. Her aunt Denise was a great influence on her enthusiasm for the arts and her creative side. Her summers in Selma, Alabama would be the inspiration for her later an animated film on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay earned her Saint Joseph High School diploma in Lakewood California. In 1990, she was a graduate of Saint Joseph High school in Lakewood CA. DuVernay discovered a passion for the field of broadcast journalism while a student. Her first job was working as an assistant at CBS News in the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay remembers being given the task of watching the house and examining the waste of one of members of the jury. Her tasks left her disappointed with journalism so she decided to move towards the industry of public relations. DuVernay was immediately hired from college to be an intern at a small studio. The DuVernay Agency is her first public relations agency. In addition to PR her agency launched a number of social media and lifestyle networks, including the Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective, Urban Eye and HelloBeautiful.
